I'd like a description or picture of a sciurine, a rodent of the squirrell family?

I have a little animal going into my garden shed, he's got a rat's tail, but long soft looking fur like a rabbit, also multi colored like a rabbit, a streak of dark brown, then lighter brown. it's interesting looking

Is it a sciurine? Has anybody ever seen one of these?

Knowing where you live would help. It could be a wide variety of rodents including rats, mice, chipmunks, weasels, and even squirrels. The other answer is also correct Sciurinae is a subfamily of rodents that refers to squirrels.

This seemed to have alot of pictures. Hope this helps.
Reply:The definition of sciurine is as follows: pertaining to or like squirrels; belonging to squirrel division of rodents. sciuroid, a.like a squirrel or a squirrel's tail.

If you meant Sciurinae, you probably did not realize that it is a category of rodents not a species.

The Sciurinae is a subfamily of squirrels in the (family Sciuridae). It unites the flying squirrels with certain related tree squirrels. Older sources place the flying squirrels in a separate subfamily (Pteromyinae) and unite all remaining sciurids into the subfamily Sciurinae, but this has been strongly refuted by genetic studies.
